Author's biography

Chantal Lebrat, a multilingual specialist in international relations, has had a rich career with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the French army (despite suffering from multiple sclerosis at the age of 26). Fluent in Russian, she has worked in both Russia and Ukraine, approaching both countries with the neutrality and respect typical of her humanitarian experience.
A member of the Société des Gens de Lettres, she is the author of several works published under a pseudonym.
As well as defending the animal cause, this novel immerses us in little-known aspects of Russia, offering a nuanced perspective on the country.

Synopsis

This offbeat, breathless novel explores imaginative and sometimes controversial solutions to the problem of dog abuse. Among them is an unexpected proposal to send convicted criminals to Siberia to help preserve the wildlife there.
While this audacious system was being put in place, Louise Maubourg, from the Secretariat of State for Dogs, had to deal with an unprecedented crisis: in Clermont-Ferrand, public opinion went wild over Taïga, a husky dog who had taken refuge in the central police station. What has she gone through to become the idol of an entire nation?
Euric Cluny, a zealous investor, sees this craze as a unique opportunity. But is financial interest really his only motivation?
Somewhere between utopia and realism, this captivating plot interweaves political issues, romantic relationships and global challenges.
