Véronique Gautier, the author

Suffering from severe hearing loss from an early age, Véronique Gautier chose to surpass herself by studying piano and opera singing. Courageous and determined, she went so far as to become a music education teacher in a secondary school. The education authority, which employed her for 26 years, was delighted, and her pupils appreciated the richness of her teaching.
Proud to have taken up the challenge, the hearing-impaired person that she has never ceased to be (even though she was fitted with a hearing aid), decided, at the age of forty, to take full responsibility for her disability and devote herself to helping young deaf people.
A passionate lover of the mountains and literature, and the author of several novels, this extraordinary woman has been a specialist teacher at the Institut National des Jeunes Sourds (INJS) in Chambéry for the past twelve years.
