Charter of the drawing competition (version française)

(English version)

The Renaissens Publishing House drawing competition for young people is included in the statutes of the Association Renaissens Publications and Competitions. Entitled “Youth and the French-speaking world”, this competition aims to raise awareness about those with disabilities across the five continents.
The competition is open to all young people 20 and under from all over the world. Participants are aware that their drawing will contribute to the promotion of a disabled author. The author of the book shall systematically mention the participation of his/her illustrator, his/her name, and his/her nationality at any promotional event.

THE ILLUSTRATOR

The young illustrator agrees to be the sole author of the drawing. He/she must submit his/her project to Renaissens Publishing by email in a "High-Definition Photo format". All techniques are accepted. The illustrator must be able to show his previous drawings upon request.
The winner agrees to send a photograph and a video answering the publisher's questions. He/she (or his/her parents) authorizes the video produced at the end of the competition (as well as his/her photograph) to be broadcast on social networks and on the Renaissens website.
The young illustrator remains the owner of his drawing. He/she may sell it but agrees to make it public only in its Renaissens format (cover of the book) and not to make any other commercial or humanitarian use of it. The illustrator is also strongly encouraged to distribute the cover widely on his/her networks and to publicize the competition.

RENAISSENS PUBLISHING

Every upcoming drawing competition is published on the Renaissens website in French and English. A bilingual advertisement is also posted on social networks. The release date of the book shall determine the deadline for the submission of the drawings.
Renaissens Publishing agrees to award the winner of the competition the sum of €100 regardless of their country of residence, as recognition, not compensation. In addition, he/she shall receive a copy of the book if he/she resides in France and two copies if abroad.
Renaissens shall mention the name of the illustrator inside the book and on the back cover as well as on any promotional item (i.e., brochure of the book).
Renaissens shall produce a video of the illustrator based on a questionnaire, to be distributed on its site and social networks.
Renaissens shall send a questionnaire to the illustrator concerning his/her drawing and art works (as well as a photograph) to be included in the press kit distributed to the media when the book is released. A press release about the illustrator is also sent to the media outlets in his/her region/country.
Renaissens Publishing may make any use of the cover produced from the winning design as part of its activities.
In the case of an assignment of rights to a foreign Publishing House, Renaissens agrees to provide the foreign publisher with the contact details of the illustrator (in the event that the foreign publisher wishes to use the same cover), albeit with the understanding that the drawing remains the property of the illustrator and cannot be transferred
Renaissens books are distributed by Sodis and listed in all bookstores in France, French-speaking Switzerland, and Belgium where it can be ordered (as well as in virtual bookstores). They may also be printed in the United States, Great Britain, Canada, and Australia in Anglo-Saxon format (narrower and higher) to meet foreign demand. The printing companies set their own prices.

JURY AND SELECTION PROCESS

The jury is made up of ten members for the first round, to which the publisher is added in the second round. All members of the jury must be members of the Association. Once the drawings of the finalists are selected, a cover composition (adapted to each drawing) is proposed by the publisher. The eleven members then choose the book cover.
Due to geopolitical events following the war in Ukraine, the Association has taken the decision not to reveal the names and nationalities of the candidates so as not to influence the jury. Anonymity is maintained, and the drawings are identified only by a letter of the alphabet.
In order not to harm blind and visually impaired authors, no author shall participate in the selection.

OPENING OF THE COMPETITION TO THE OVER TWENTY

If, a week before the signing of the proof of the work, Renaissens Publishing has not received a sufficient number of drawings, the competition shall accept art works from young people up to 30 years old. This decision was published on the Renaissens website and social networks.

AWARDS AND CERTIFICATES

The illustrator whose drawing has been chosen to adorn the cover of a Renaissens book shall receive the sum of one hundred euros. He/she must accept said payment.
Any illustrator who has been a finalist four consecutive times shall receive a reward of €50.
All candidates receive a certificate: either a participant's certificate, a finalist's certificate, or a 1st prize certificate for the best book cover.

RIGHT TO COMPETE MULTIPLE TIMES

Any illustrator whose drawing has been published on one of the covers of a Renaissens book must wait for the release of three publications before re-entering the drawing competition.
