Charter of the drawing competition (French version 2025)

(Version française)

The Renaissens Publishing House drawing competition for young people is included in the statutes of the Association Renaissens Publications and Competitions. Entitled “Youth and the French-speaking world”, this competition aims to raise awareness about those with disabilities across the five continents.
The competition is open to young people from all over the world up to the age of 30 (updated to 2025). The young people who take part are aware that their drawing supports the promotion of a disabled author. The author of the book will always mention the illustrator's participation, name and nationality at all promotional events.

THE ILLUSTRATOR

The young illustrator undertakes to be the sole author of the drawing and not to have used images generated by AI. They must submit their project by e-mail in "high definition photo format". All techniques are accepted. The illustrator must be able to show previous drawings if requested.
The winner agrees to send a photograph and a video answering the publisher's questions. He/she (or his/her parents) authorizes the video produced at the end of the competition (as well as his/her photograph) to be broadcast on social networks and on the Renaissens website.
The young illustrator remains the owner of his or her drawing. They may sell the original but undertake to make it public only in its cover form (Renaissens book cover) and not to make any other commercial or humanitarian use of it. The illustrator is also strongly encouraged to share the cover widely through his or her networks and to publicise the competition.

RENAISSENS PUBLISHING

Every upcoming drawing competition is published on the Renaissens website in French and English. A bilingual advertisement is also posted on social networks. The release date of the book shall determine the deadline for the submission of the drawings.
Editions Renaissens will pay the winner of the competition €150, regardless of their country of residence. This is a token of recognition, not payment. The winner will also receive one copy of the book if they live in France and two copies if they live abroad.
Renaissens shall mention the name of the illustrator inside the book and on the back cover as well as on any promotional item (i.e., brochure of the book).
Renaissens shall produce a video of the illustrator based on a questionnaire, to be distributed on its site and social networks.
Renaissens shall send a questionnaire to the illustrator concerning his/her drawing and art works (as well as a photograph) to be included in the press kit distributed to the media when the book is released. A press release about the illustrator is also sent to the media outlets in his/her region/country.
Renaissens Publishing may make any use of the cover produced from the winning design as part of its activities.
In the case of an assignment of rights to a foreign Publishing House, Renaissens agrees to provide the foreign publisher with the contact details of the illustrator (in the event that the foreign publisher wishes to use the same cover), albeit with the understanding that the drawing remains the property of the illustrator and cannot be transferred
The book - listed in all bookshops in France, French-speaking Switzerland and Belgium, where it can be ordered (as well as in virtual bookshops) - is distributed by Sodis. It can also be printed in the United States, Great Britain, Canada and Australia in Anglo-Saxon format (narrower and taller) to meet foreign demand. These printers set their own prices.

JURY AND SELECTION PROCESS

The jury is made up of members of the association's board, plus the editor and active members. All members of the jury must be members of the association.
Once the finalist drawings have been selected, the publisher will propose a cover design (adapted to each drawing). The members of the jury then choose the book cover.
Due to geopolitical events, the editor no longer mentions the names and nationalities of the candidates to the members of the jury, so as not to influence them. Anonymity is preserved in its entirety, with entries only identified by a letter at the selection stage.
In order not to harm blind and visually impaired authors, no author shall participate in the selection.

AWARDS AND CERTIFICATES

The illustrator whose design has been chosen to adorn the cover of a Renaissens book will receive the sum of one hundred and fifty euros (€150).
The illustrator who has been a finalist 3 times in a row from 2025 onwards will receive a €50 prize.
All candidates receive a diploma: participant's diploma, finalist's diploma, winner's diploma.
